Within the many moving parts of the agency, the project manager orchestrates resources and processes to amplify the team’s value. You will help the team to work better together. This is achieved by becoming the project owner and being responsible for the leadership of the project from inception to completion. The project manager leads the team and helps negotiate the multiple relationships within any project, whether with internal or external resources.

As it pertains to Second Melody, the project manager will achieve this in the following ways:

  1. During the initiation of a project, pull together the key players, define scope, and clarify objectives
  2. Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  3. Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  4. Ensure technical feasibility and resource availability for each project
  5. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  6. Ensure accurate hour logging by the team
  7. Develop project plans with all the component tasks and how they fit together
  8. Allocate tasks to the necessary people, and communicate with them regularly about what is upcoming and the status of each task
  9. Monitor workloads and protect time for focused creative work
  10. Liaise between teams and make sure handoffs go smoothly
  11. Keep stakeholders informed about the project
  12. Hold milestone meetings as the project progresses so everyone can check in with each other and stay on track
  13. Manage hours spend and out of pocket expenses how that compares to the planned budget
  14. Act as a facilitator to resolve disagreements and make decisions within the team to avoid delays
  15. At the end of projects put together a postmortem report based on profitability and identify what went right and what went wrong
  16. Be an advocate for the creative team and ensure they have time to create

Work requirements for the position:

  • 3+ years experience in project management 
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • A positive attitude and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
  • Ability to backup ideas and choices with research and reasoning
  • Solid knowledge of marketing strategies
  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
  • Self-motivated and comfortable making decisions
  • Experience with working in a team environment
  • Experience working in a creative agency
  • Up to date with industry leading software and technologies
  • Realism regarding time, costs, and deadlines
  • Ability to analyze data and create reports 
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting
